40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Glitter Topper or Flakie - Camouflage

Here we are now on week ten of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt for everyone is Glitter Topper or Flakie with a personal pattern prompt each, mine is Camouflage.

I had a pretty good idea of what to do.  Mind you having said that, the camo nails are my second attempt.  I did the first ones, randomly painting on stripes in different colours.  But the end result looked awful, so I took it off, re-did the accent nails and so much better!

I am very pleased with the end result and got lots of compliments on the manicure.  The flakie polish gave the whole manicure a different look in different lighting.
See what other participants did in this challenge via the inlinkz below.

Indian Flag Skittlette for World Week

We are celebrating World Week at school this week.  Each class gets a different country, in Reception we have India.  It has been fab.  We have made flags, tasted poppadoms, danced, listened to music, made holi patterns, played instruments etc.

But I had to do my nails to celebrate, and this is what I have worn since yesterday.  The Indian Flag Skittlette.  For the two accent flag nails I did a sponge gradient and then drew on the wheel in the middle with acrylic paint.

Items Used:
OPI Nail Envy
Color Club - Twiggy - Green
LA Girl - Rock Star - Crowd Surfing - Flakie
Sally Hansen  - Ivory Skull - White
LA Girl - Flare - Flushed - Orange

1st Manicure of the Year

I used two main colours for my 2012 New Year nails.  Both by Color Club, Best Dressed List and She's So Glam.  The glitter and flakie used were Rainbow by Gosh and Pinky Glitter by Sinful Colors.  The firework effects were done using acrylic paints.  I love the result.

Some Old Manicures

Sorry for not being on for a while.

It was the last day of term as you may know on Friday 23 July, (if you are in the UK). It has been a real busy half term. So I have not been able to post much.

I have loads of my manicures photo'd and saved and so am just going to share as many as I can in this one post, so please forgive if it is lonnnnggg:)

This was a manicure of Yellow comparisons that I did, I updated it for a day by stamping it, a bit of Konad and some BM Plates.
Turned up Turquoise by China Glaze, The colour in reality was much brighter and sharper. My camera did not seem to want to pick that up:(
A few days later, I updated the manicure by fauxnading it, you can see I am still a novice as it is a bit skew wiff!

A Blue by China Glaze, apologies, the name escapes me. My daughter did this manicure, she then updated it by putting on Rainbow by Gosh

Tantalize Me by China Glaze

This is Moody Blue by China Glaze, a lovely creme polish.
A colour drop, the actual colour though is much brighter on the nail me thinks.
Excuse the lack of clean up, I just noticed!

Manicures Gone Wrong!

Have you ever done a manicure, and then ruined it? I have and this post is about my manicures that looked ok, but then something happened, and ruined it!

Sunday 25 April Manicure
I wanted a soft pale colour, I went with OPI Cameo Role, which was ok, I then decided to Konad it, again not too bad. Then I went to bed! and this is what happened. I went to work with it, hiding my nails in shame. All the kids thought they were great and liked the flowers, how innocent they are, but I was in ashamed!

......So Monday 26 April, I couldn't bare it anymore and had to change my nail polish.

I decided, against my head saying "no" and thought I would do a Ruffian Manicure! I can't even remember the colours I used as again it was a disaster. One or two nails looked ok, but it had not gone on like I wanted. The colours were bleeding into each other. Oh Dear. But it was late at night, I had to leave it again!

Next day went to work, the kids loved it, I had changed my nail polish (this set a trend in them asking now, on a daily basis, in the playground, "what colour have got on your nails today.......?"

Tuesday 27 April, changed it slightly, I added a matte coat (Manglaze).

This lasted a few days, and got fed up and changed again! This is the most I have changed my colour in a working week!

Thursday 29 April
I changed to Nails Inc. The Thames. A lovely grey colour, nails in photo are not good, as you can see chipped already, all that washing up you see! I had later in the day bought my new buy: Gosh Rainbow. Thought would try it out on my pinky.

Gosh - Pink Rose

Sunday 16 May 2010

Got myself a new pink shade in the week. It is by Gosh and it is a lovely coral/pink creme shade. Application was lovely and opaque in two.

This made my nails look really long, and I was asked by the kids at school if they were my real nails? I said yes but was not believed. What do you think.

China Glaze Prize Winning Mare

Sunday 9 May 2010

My nails at a few weeks growth. Not bad, I have been using OPI Avoplex oil every night and it is great for my nails and cuticles.

Anyway, on with my manicure this weekend. This week I chose China Glaze, Prize Winning Mare. In the bottle it does not look too good. A browish copper kind of colour. I was beginning to wonder why I had bought it in the first place! Anyway since I had, I thought I may as well try it on. Again, it was easy to apply and was opaque in two coats. And to be honest it didn’t look too bad. It has a micro glitter/shimmer to it which is always a good thing.

A few days later, I got bored so applied my new Gosh Rainbow and voila, a new manicure, Nice.

Gosh! Blue Manicure

My daughter did this manicure this weekend.

She used wanted a blue manicure and used OPI Dating a Royal. She is young, so is a bit messy applying. Having said that, this is a huge improvement from about a month ago!

And then.......

..... over the top she put on one coat of Gosh Rainbow.

The flakes on this are amazing. I have wanted to get the NFu Oh version, but can't get it here in the UK. This is very similar. It is also very similar to the Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure, another shade not available here!

I bought the first bottle of Gosh Rainbow in Superdrug last week, and whilst out shopping today bought another back up bottle!

Thanks for looking.
