40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Yellow and Silver - Mermaid Scales

Week 44 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

Eight more weeks to go......

This week the prompt is Yellow and White and my personal pattern prompt of mermaid scales.

I have seen many many manicures of this pattern, but they are all done using vinyl stickers/stencils or stamping plates.

I own neither of these and so did my own interpretation.  Not brilliant or good but it is what I came up with.  I used some sticky back plastic and cut out my own tape with a scallop scissor.

In hindsight I wish I had just done a sort of gradient and then hand painted the scales, but hey ho, a lesson learnt.

Leopard Espresso! - 11 May 2015

After my beautiful (smiles to self :)) last manicure, a really plain down to earth one here.  I filed down my nails so they are a tad shorter, cuticles could do with some TLC also.

But hey ho, here a simple leopard print accent nail.

Also used on this manicure not pictured, a matte top coat.

Orange Nails for a Wedding - 4 May 2015

I attended several weddings this year.  For each I had a different outfit and of course I had to do nails to match.

This is a wedding I went to back in May - these are the nails I did to match my outfit.

I taped off the tips at different lengths, and sponged on with an orange and white polish (I am sorry I don't remember which I used).  I then sponged on some glitter and highlighted the shape with another shade of orange.  For the ring finger I used a silver glitter again highlighting the shape with an orange.

Above my nails on top of the dress of my outfit.

Lilac Weave - 21 April 2015

I was looking for inspiration and so went to the big WWW, and found a similar manicure (sorry I can't remember who, but if it is you out there, please leave a kind comment).

Anyway this is what I did with black and white, lilac and silver.

Mango N smoke Gradient - 25 March 2015

I didn't know how to title this so ..... as the accent nail looks smoky.......

Just a simple two colour gradient with a smoky accent nail.

Items used as above with Nail Envy base coat and SV top coat.

Espresso Blobicure - 17 March 2015

Filed down my nails just a tad from the last manicure.  Another simple manicure with a blobicure accent nail.

For the accent blobicure, paint on one coat of base colour, let it dry then apply a second and while that is still wet just drip on some colours in random spots and voila.  The polish spreads out and you are left with the blobicure.

As always I use OPI Nail Envy as my base coat, Espresso as the base colour and then Cloud and Shore-ly for the blobs. Seche vite top coat and ready to go.

Simple Nude Manicure - 9 March 2015

I loved this on.  Just a simple nude manicure on my nails.  I loved wearing this.  In my opinion, elegant and simple.

I used Shore-ly by Sally Hansen and top coat of seche vite and voila.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween

This is week five of the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge

This week as the title suggests, it is Halloween nails.

I did some "zombiefied" nails but they were a big fail.  They looked ok IRL but in photo's not so good.  So I re-did them.  I did a simple 3 colour gradient using pale lilac, purple and black and then hand drew some spooky trees and bats with acrylic paint.

Items used:
Nail Envy base coat
Elf - Lilac
Nails Inc - Wigmore Street
PIA - Black
Sponge
Black Acrylic paint

Water Decals and Dry Brush Technique

 25 October 2014

Ok, not so happy with this at all.  It looked better in my head than on my nails.

But I tried the dry brush technique here with some water decals as bought from AliExpress.

I wish I had just done one plain colour on the thumb, pointer and little finger. Never mind ....

Negative Space and Decals

13 October 2014

Right I have updated my blog to July 2014.
I did do my nails in September, but, I don't know what happened to all the photos :(  I am sure I took them, I just can't find any.

So I am straight into October.

Here sporting very quickly done negative space nails topped off with some nail decals. Can't remember the polish used either!  But looking at them I think it may have been ASOS Ciate Paint - Lauren - blue. I tend to use this one a lot.

Not really happy with these but posting anyway.

Rose Decal Skittlette - 14 July 2014

14 July 2014

My favourite way to dress nails when in a hurry or not - water decals (from AliExpress). So quick and easy.

OPI Nail Envy as base coat and Seche Vite top coat.

Royal Blue Floral - 8 July 2014

8 July 2014

Another floral manicure.  I loved how this turned out. I got this idea from someone on IG, I am sorry I can't remember as it was over a year ago! :(
But if you know who you are please do tell and I will give credit.

I may have to re-create this, maybe in another colour and see how that turns out.

Products used + acrylic paint, OPI Nail Envy and Seche Vite not shown.

Orange Rose Skittlette

3 July 2014

Shortened and re-shaped nails.
3 July, my youngest turned 11 today. So these nails were to celebrate his birthday and mine in two days time.
I really liked how these turned out.  Could have possibly done another coat on the thumb and pointer but hey-ho. :)

A close up of my hand-drawn roses.

 Another arty pose :)

Products used, including OPI Nail Envy as base and Seche Vite top coat not shown here.
