GOT Polish Challenge - Week 12 - Peach/Yellow - Gradient Cartoon Nails

Week 12 and the final one of this first GOT Golden Oldie Thursday Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Peach/Yellow.

I have a lot of orange polish but only a couple of peach colours, but they did not qualify as they are less than a year old.  So I opted to do a sponge gradient with yellow and an orange.  Both polishes are well over a year old. I got the yellow shade back in 2011 (see post here) worn only once. The orange one is even older worn only a few times, (here and here, oh and here).

I am sharing this manicure, but I was not at all happy with it.  It made my hands look awful and the nail shape was not made for the at all.  I hasten to say this came off within 24 hours and I also re-shaped my pointy nails.

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 11 - Ruffle - Skittlette

Week 11 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Ruffle.

This was a first for me, I have never done a ruffle manicure before.  I choose a pink theme for mine and all the polishes used are well over a year old, some about 7-8 years old.  I used OPI polishes for my ruffle and a Nails Inc for the pointer and thumb.  I can't remember names as as they got 'filed' straight away!

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 10 - Purple - Water Marble

Week 10 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Purple.

I have had the two PIA nail polishes in my stash for over 2 years and the sinful color one for over 3 maybe 4 years.

With two of the polishes I decided to do a water marble.  I rushed into this and forgot to put a base of white underneath the water marble, hence the see through effect.  Although it looks ok I wish I had put on an undie!  Nevermind, it looks ok.
Items used:
OPI Nail Envy
PIA - Shade 05 and 22 (glitter)
Sinful Color - Tucana
Seche Vite

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 9 - Skittle

Week 9 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Skittle.

I was a little confused as to what a skittle manicure was. I have done skittlette manicures but this was a first I think.  There are a lot of variations out there.  I think I got it right, this is my interpretation.  It is a simple manicure using ten golden oldie nail polishes which have not been used in quite a while and are definitely over a year old. Some rhinestones to bling it up a bit also.

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 8 - Orange Animal Print

Week 8 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Orange.
I had various manicures I thought I might do, but they all fell by the wayside as I sat there last night to do my nails.  I used my fave neon orange from LA Girl which I have had a few years now.  But I don't wear it often as I don't want it to run out, maybe I should get a backup!

Anyway this is what I ended up doing.  I actually quite like it. This colour so suits the nail shape.
Items used:
OPI Nail Envy
LA Girl - Disco - Dance Craze
Black acrylic paint
Seche Vite

Don't forget to take a look at the other orange manicures by fellow bloggers with the link below. x

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 7 - Chevrons

Week 7 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts. This week the theme is Chevrons.
Now, I was confused as to what a chevron was.  I have seen a lot of manicures with the "v"shape (which I thought was a chevron), but then again there are a lot of "/\/\/\/\/\/\" manicures also claiming to be chevron (I thought zig zag was the right term for this).

So I did a bit of investigating and googled the term chevron and most descriptions stated " ..a V-shaped line or stripe, especially one on the sleeve of a uniform indicating rank or length of service." Check it out here (chevron) and here (zig zag).

I also came across this great post which put my mind to rest and yes I too shouted out loud!

OK rant over.

First I change the shape of my nails again this week.  Made them more "pointy" not sure if they are almond or stiletto?

I also made my own decals for this challenge. I cut this into chevrons and used in my manicure.

My first oldie polish used is the black in this decal.  It is Black by Honeypot Cosmetics.

My other oldie is the red by Barry M.  I have had it ages and I have never used it. So here it is in all its glory.

Items used:
OPI Nail Envy
Barry M Gelly - Blood Orange
Sally Hansen - Ion (pinky and for the decal base)
Striping Tape
Seche Vite

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 5 - Green - Gradient Skittlette

Week 5 of the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts.  I have a lot green nail polish that is over a year old.  But I was looking in my last haul box from Fragrance Direct and I found some of my rolls of foil I had put in.  In that stash there was a metallic green one.  I have had this in my stash for a VERY long time, bought from QVC when they used to showcase Special FX nail polish, anyone remember that?
Anyway I just had to use this old green in my manicure. I've done a skittlette for this challenge. I used the foil only on my pinky.  I did not use the glue technique.  Once I painted the second coat of polish I waited until it was nearly dry but still tacky to touch then quickly applied the foil in short bursts.
For the ring and middle finger, I did a taped heart shape gradient (I have seen a lot of these so thanks goes to all of you for inspiration). And a normal sponge gradient for the index and thumb.
Items used:
OPI Nail Envy
Seche Vite
Sally Hansen - Ion
OPI - Mermaid's Tears
China Glaze - Great Barrier Beige
Nails Inc - Electric Avenue
Nail Foil  - Green

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 4 - Dots

I was looking forward to this one.  I had wanted to this design for ages.  So I set about knowing just what to do, and  it turned out a big fail. I did not have time to do it again or do another manicure.  And really I can't say anymore :(
Items used:
LA Girl Disco - Dance Studio (a lot darker navy than the photo depicts)
China Glaze - Sweet Hook (Lilac)
Honeypot - White
NYC - Lights Camera Glitter

GOT Polish Challenge - Week 3 - Blue Dainty French

It is week 3 and the theme is Blue in the (Golden Oldie Thursday) GOT Polish challenge over at Crumpet's Nail Tarts.
I have had to cut and file back my nails as they were breaking left right and centre.  I also re-shaped them. So what better than to do this dainty little french manicure.  I have had the blue in my stash for yonks and I absolutely love it.
A rare picture of my right hand!

Items Used:
OPI Nail Envy
