Home Made Cuticle Oil - 8 April 2014

Ok, am on catch-up here.

I have not blogged seriously since about June last year.
Life, work and family took over. I also lost the passion for blogging.  So having read so many blogger articles especially the one by The Crumpet here, I took a break.  A lonnnnng break.

But I feel like I want to log all my photos somehow, so am going to try to write very short posts and hope to post all my nails since last year.

It is going to be a lengthy process, but this post is a start.

Sooo....

Last year my daughter and I ventured into making our own cuticle oil.  The recipe is the very popular one found on the web and it turned out really well. (I don't have recipe to hand, but once I find it, will make a new post).

We have been using it all the time and it is a god send to those dry cuticles.
Once made we did the naked nail challenge.

The nails look slightly bruised, they were a bit painful too, not having polish on I guess they took in more water?? You can also see that they have gone slightly out of shape and appear longer? I guess again because they are naked they are prone to "soaking" in more liquid.

Again they felt a little painful, but the bruising seems to have gone down.  They soak up the oil so quickly, I was using it 3-4 times a day if not more.

Shape getting back to that of day 1 now, and not so bruised. Still soaking up the oil.

Change of nail shape, I decided to go slightly stiletto shape. I really like this shape.

Green and Purple Sponge

Thought I would show you my bare nails before painting them.  The aren't as yellow as I thought they would be and the length is also good.  BUT, this is my famous left hand, which is always photographed, the right hand... well the nails for some reason are in a slightly worse condition.
The ring and middle finger just won't stop peeling and splitting.  So I went for the chop, my RH nails are a lot shorter than the LH.  It had to be done.
The manicure now.  Well I saw this on a Korean site a while back and thought I would give it a go.  I have searched high and low for the site but can I find it?? So if you are the owner, I thank you for the inspiration.
This is my version, I have to say I did this at about 9pm while in bed!!  I did not have the energy to do the swirly flowers so just dotted mine.  Overall I was happy with the effect although not sure I will wear this colour combo again.

For this manicure I used:
LA Girls Disco - Can U dig it? - the green base colour
OPI - Vampire State Building - the burgundy sponge
White acrylic for the dots.
Seche Vite top coat.

Nail Dis-colouration!

11 April 2011
Just wanted to show how awful the nail discolouration of my nails is.  They have been like this for a few weeks now.  I have tried all sorts of ways to whiten or clean them up but to no avail.  Oh well, just as well they get dressed or they would look awful naked :o)

Naked Nails for a Day

Sunday 23 May.
As you may have read, last week when I wore the Gosh Pink Rose shade, the kids at school did not believe that they were my own nails. To prove to them, I went in with ..... yes..... NAKED NAILS. Well almost, I had my nail envy on.

<.......Left hand not so good.

Right hand looking good........>

But Monday evening they had to be dressed. I had a few weeks earlier got my Nail polish and stuff haul from TransDesign. And amongst the haul was my long sought after OPI Greenwich Village. My daughter chose this to be the colour for the week.

Nice application ofcourse, not a colour I normally wear but I just had to have it, it really reminds me of summer, lush green grass, oh and hayfever. Can't win them all.
